About a year and four months ago, I jumped onto the Vella bandwagon. Don’t know what Vella is? It’s very much like Radish and Wattpad–digital platforms for serialized fiction. Vella, specifically Kindle Vella is Amazon’s version of those. I thought it would be the best place to expose Scarlett Ribbons to the world finally–and still take my time finishing it (YES, people who’ve known me for decades, to you I admit: SR is still not finished, my Immortal Beloved as I like to call it) I mean, it’s done, it’s just not done done. If you know what I mean.

At any rate–I chose Vella because they had this rockin’ bonus program–I mean, what better way to write a story than to also get paid while writing said story? Which was super cool at first, then over the year they began nerfing the bonus structure more and more and well–a month ago they announced some very strange changes to the program overall. And I was finally like–I’m out. First of all, my readers aren’t actually into serialized fiction and frankly–the fact you had to buy coins to unlock episodes was strange and mildly off-putting. I’m GenX through and through and this was confounding to me. The biggest sticking point for me is the fact there is no discoverability on that platform, so you are left to do all your own marketing, and to be honest, I super stink at marketing.

I still have to do marketing, but the platform I house my words on should at least help a little–I mean, just some SEO would be fabulous. LOL!

I digress–I quit Vella and I’ve also quit KDP Select–Case Study officially becomes mine to do with as I please on April 12 – and I’m officially launching my Ream subscription on April 13^th.

What is Ream you ask?? I’m sure you’ve all heard of Patreon. It’s like that. And now you are like WOW Vicki, what gives? You just gave up one serialized platform for another.

Yes, and No.

Ream is like Patreon, in that you are supporting an artist, but unlike Patreon, Ream is specifically geared to writers and readers. They have giant bold plans to change the publishing industry and I am so very impressed by its founders. And super plus, they have an eReader! Wolf Moon is my only serial story right now with five planned seasons. Scarlett Ribbons will drop in chapter batches. You also get access to all my short stories on Tier One along with Case Study #3, The TorTalon File, and new shorts and ‘behind the scenes’ scenes all along the way. I’ll be resurrecting my YouTube channel with even more behind-the-scenes Children of Forever Legacy series stuff,–which–fun fact, came about because – BECAUSE, I never wanted to finish Scarlett Ribbons. Ergo, I began writing stories around Scarlett Ribbons and now there’s this massive world of characters, stories, and intrigue. Loads of intrigue. 

And finally, for the pièce de résistance

Tier TWO (which I am most excited about if you couldn’t tell)

You get all the wicked fun of tier one, plus–I’m re-writing RynRaven and you get to see revised chapters and videos of me going insane as I re-write this baby. The whole kit and caboodle of what it’s like to write, or rather, re-write a book. And the best part – you even get to make suggestions. If you’ve already read it and there were parts you weren’t fond of, this will be your opportunity to say something! And once RynRaven been completed and published, all current tier two subscribers will get a copy for free. 

Tier Two also gets all the news way before anyone else – I have two new stories that will begin dropping in the summer as well as one Ream exclusive story. It’s a much darker story than any I’ve written so far, with content warnings all over the place. And because of that, it probably will not be published anywhere except over there. As of right now. All of these will drop in chapter batches.
