Moonshot

I recently came across this term- Moonshot. I’d never heard it before (not that that is a testament to it’s popularity, as I’ve only just pulled my head up out of the preverbal sand, only to firmly plant it back in there every so often, but that’s a story for another time) so, I decided to look into it a little further, because I heard this word not once, but twice in a very short period of time from two very distinct sources. (Another side note, this search has also led to a new topic worthy of further research – ancient moon lore – a treasure trove of inspiration for future stories.)

– Moonshot: According to Urban Dictionary is an ‘awesome, fantastic, almost impossible to achieve, the best, the reason for success, reaching the highest point, right on target’

Well, that last part knocks me right out, unless it’s a goal/target someone else has given me, I rarely hit all my self-imposed targets. I do have tricks to enhance the odds I complete all my targets if I can create real world consequences. But then they cease to be self-imposed and become an immovable, must-be-met target. Like when I announced my website publicly, getting it ready ceased to become a self-imposed target, at least in my opinion. I left myself no room to back out of it – again. I finally lifted the veil of my side hustle and invited you all in. Which still scares me sometimes.

But all other points apply. I think to this little endeavor of mine; the prevailing advice is to remain positive. KNOW you can achieve the results you want, and it will happen, right? I’m very certain I’ll build a staggeringly large audience that reaches all the way up into the double digits very soon!
